Welcome to HOH! You'll really enjoy working on these old saws & bringing them back to life again.I know I sure do! Your SXL was the 714th unit made on the 152nd day of 1972.Unfortunately I can't decipher the XL-12 date.

I really appreciate the information, It will be nice when my neighbor asks me how old they are I can give much more precise information other than early 70s. And yes both the saws have spark and good compression. The XL 12 I know will run if you pour a little bit of fuel down the carb. Other than being coated in at least 20 or 30 years of gunk and the fuel lines being rotted everything seems to be in working order (famous last words I know) but we shall see how it goes I’ll be sure to post pictures in a thread once I get them cleaned up and running. Thank you both and if I get stumped I know where to find the experts now :-)

Sports a full wrap handle, chain brake, manual oiler, and hard nose bar. Runs like a top, outperforms most of the husky saws of the same size made today. From what I've read on this site, it's a 1974. I'd take it to work with me but it will never meet the wcb requirements of today.
A confirmation of the date and where it might have come from would be great, guys!
Pics in the next few days after I whittle them down to under a meg.

Hi guys
Would like to ask for some help dating my newly found 1050 homelite.
This saw has only lot number and ut number on the tag.
Lot number is F7095
UT number is 101394
Would really appreciate any help towards dating this old lady.

I see a whe lot of great information here but stil a little confused with the serial numbers.
I borrowed an old XL-12 from my dad to cut a few trees and while buying a new chain purchased another one that the shop had on display as an old relic.
Sn# 31080859 is my dad's saw
Sn# 2504984 is the one I purchased and am trying to get running again.
Any help figuring out the age of these 2 is greatly appreciated.

 I have an old Homelite Super 2 that has a Lot No. G6174 and Serial No. 45451986. There isn't a Model No. Can someone determine the model and date of manufacture? |

just picked up an xl800 still tryimg to find out about it seems to run carb is a mess,missing air cleaner cover and clutch cover got it for pennies
