Hope it's ok to post this here just trying to figure out this UT stuff. I recently got a Super 2 and unlike my original Super 2 that has a S/N of 454-08452 This one has the UT50162 and a S/N T8802730 (the last three digits are just a best guess as the sticker is damaged) What exactly can be deduced from those numbers? I tried looking online and seems there are too many UT number for it to be just a different way of saying "Model No." Or did Homelite really make that many different models of saws? Ken in NY +UT:50162 is a TERRY built ( Canadian ) SUPER-2 .
The Serial Number is somewhat suspect, it may actually be SN:T8302730 .. built in 1983 .

As I said the S/N section of the tag is a bit damaged, I'll take another look this morning. That would make it about 10 years newer than my other Super 2! Just waiting on Leon to get back to me on a carb kit and duck bills compression feels good and it has spark so 90% chance it will be a good runner!

Checked the tag again this morning and 5terry is right that is a T83 not T88 So a 1983 it is!

I am new to the forum as of today. Was curious about age of xl-12 that I bought at action about 30 years ago.Saw is a little rough appearance wise but has always answered the call.I noticed in this thread that there was a comment about an xl-12 with a s/n in the 15's being one of the older ones known about. So I joined the forum to tell about my xl-12 with s/n 12730768. It is blue and white with manual oiler and has filter and hose in gas tank. Really glad I found this Homelite forum.

Looks like early 1966 to me. Why do you need the date to sell it? Why do you WANT to sell it? (You are supposed to be buying more Homelites, not selling.)

Joyce sold EZs 691650 and 691651 in September and October of 1957, the numbers jump around some at that time in her records but your saw was built before then. The 1 after the EZ likely means something to the assembler or other factory staff regarding exactly what components or mods were included in the build. Might be a later designed part with and up grade or who knows. No records have come to light about such things.

Since have the complete saw I suppose I better get her running. I have not inspected everything but she turns over and has spark. Any advice on the fuel mix I should use? I have 50:1 Amsoil 2 cycle mix but not sure what is best for these older saws.

I have 50:1 Amsoil 2 cycle mix but not sure what is best for these older saws. Homelite would have required a 10:1 mix ratio back then but the oil was not near as good as today's oil. 50:1 should be fine. Some people go a little thicker, 32 or 40:1. I personally go with 50:1.
