That looks like June of 1975 to me, fits in with the other stuff except the carb date is pretty old, not impossible I suppose to have a carb from 74 on a 75 saw.

Any news on how to decode 6 and 7 digit serial numbers yet? I have three old homies with 6 digit numbers.

Like Clasec said, Joyce's records will get you close. There is a link in the second post in this thread.
You can look up similar saws with similar serial numbers to get as close as we currently know how. I normally figure that a saw on her list is anywhere from fresh off the assembly line to several months old. I would guess that the shortest time it would take to get from Homelite to retail sales is about 2 weeks. It might also sit at the factory a month, then on her display shelf for another month or 3. Very hard to predict what the longest time from manufacture to sale might be.
Look for several other same model sales with close numbers and make a guess.

Yes, I was hoping Joyce's list would have one of mine. No luck.

I have been searching for a carb rebuild kit for my HOMELITE SUPER XL AUTOMATIC lot# B6343 Ser# 04516828 the search has brought me here . I am the original owner and the saw and I would like to keep going . From what I have found stamped on the saws carb is the markings SDC Homelite A TEXTRON DIVISON but the problem is which walbro carb is it ? I think I have narrowed it down to either a 62 or an 87 any HELP would be appreciated thanks TOM

Welcome to the House of Homelite. Your saw is one of the confusing ones regarding dates. The Lot Number however tells us it was built December 8 (343), 1976 (6, leap year). There could very likely be a date stamped on the edge of the carb body that would be usually be a few months earlier than the saw build date. The carb might have been changed so that one is sometimes way off. With the date established, carb discussions should be moved to: houseofhomelite.proboards.com/board/41/super-xl-12-familyThere will be lots of help there.

A Walbro K10-SDC carburetor rebuild kit will work on any SDC model.

Thank you Sir!!... This saw was given to me from a friend who passed away in summer of 2017... It had not run in years, but he would love to know that I have started and run it, though it needs a carb rebuild still,... I see SDC on the diaphragm cover plate, so am assuming a Walbro K-10 SDC repair kit... The saw was extremely dirt and sawdust clogged, the starter rope and recoil spring are wonky, the starter screen was broken and jamming the starter up,... But, removing those pieces, lubricating the whole assembly, and re-assembling got it to an somewhat operable state... runs for a few seconds and shuts down... It will get a full cleaning and resurrection... And like my buddy, it will always have a place in my shop... Much appreciated!!

Got this old Homelite running the other day. To my knowledge it's been sitting on the shelf for every bit of 8 to 10 years. Put a new plug some fuel and oil in it, took about 10 pulls and it fired right up. The only things I need are air filter and a new fuel line. There is a number below the on\off switch. (P 2377336) Anybody have an age for this saw?

Thanks, I ran a tank of gas through it also. It made me think how much more a guy had to pay attention to his saw and really get to know his saw with having to manual pump oil to the chain. I can slightly remember gramps using one of these. It was pretty awesome to get it running. They sure don't make things like they use to. Thanks again for your time and info.
