Here we go again.I found another handle mount bracket on Ebay for $4.50 + free shipping. The seller shipped it on 4/12 & I was supposed to get it on 4/15.This time the bracket is coming from Fl.I went to track the bracket several different times & I'm unable to get any info on it other than it was accepted into the system on 4/12 & has been delayed.Normally the USPS is pretty good at getting your mail from one destination to the other, but lately they've sucked at it.Then try to call & speak with an actual human being,I guess that's a thing of the past. The automated system is nothing but BS that takes you in one big time wasting circle.

I finally received the new handle mount bracket today & once again it's not the right one.I've already wasted almost a month on waiting for brackets to arrive onl;y to find out that apparently they're mislabeled with the wrong part #.I'll modify one of the brackets I've got with some filing & drilling & be done with this nonsense. Since there was no return on the first bracket,& the 2nd bracket isn't worth returning as I only paid $4.50 for it,I figured that I'd do some modifying on one of them to make it fit on the saw.I had to drill out the mounting hole bigger to accept the shoulder screws & grommets. That was the easy part.Next I had to file & grind the bracket to make it more narrow to be able to fit in it's place & have the shock mount fit over the bracket nicely. It took some time, but finally I got the results I was looking for,so now I have an extra mount bracket.Tomorrow I hope to put the carb back on & see if she'll fire up. It's been a while since I've posted on the progress of this saw.I've been very busy cutting, hauling,& splitting fire wood.Since my splitter went down yesterday (again),it gave me some time today to finish putting it together.I nput the carb back in & when I tried to lock the throttle lock it wouldn't lock. It's possible that when I put the new decomp lever on that the throttle lock pin got turned 180 degrees.I don't know if that makes a difference, but if I've got time over the next couple of days I'll change it.Also, the carb won't draw fuel,so I'll have to pull that again.I did find a nice 20 in.bar & chain for it temporarily.I found a new 24 in.bar & chain on Ebay for $57 + free shipping. It's a runner! I had a good friend stop by today & give me a hand with a few of my saws that I'd been having problems with - an XL-123,a Mac 380 (from the '60's,87cc.) & the XL-923.I need to replace the on/off switch as it doesn't work & fix the throttle lock pin,but other than that it runs fantastic.I'll post some pics tomorrow. As promised, here are the pics of the XL-923.Sorry for the poor presentation on the dirty trailer. It was at the end of a long day.Te 20 in.bar & chain that's on it now is only temporary,I'll put a 24 in.on it shortly. Many thanks to chainsawlady for the handle & decomp lever!

I had a problem with the throttle lock not working properly (not working at all is more like it).A couple of weeks ago I took the throttle assembly apart.I found them to be not so difficult after messiong with one on my C5.I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it worked when I had the thing half apart, yet when I put it back together it wouldn't work.I had a look at the IPL & vfound the problem. The trigger had a broken loop where the throttle lock pin fits through.I got a new one ftom Leon & put it together today. They're a bit tricky as you have to line up 2 plates that hold the decomp lever on while having the throttle lock depressed too. Then you have to try to get the 2 little screws into the 2 plates. If using a magnetized screwdriver to hold the little screws I found that it wanted to pick up the plates.I got smart after a bit & used a thin wire to hold the plates in place so the magnetized screwdriver couldn't move them while putting the screws in.It's working like it should now.I'm thinking of taking the C-71 & the XL-123 out to cut this weekend on an ash tree that we dropped back in April.
