Ed the part you requested i asked $5 dollar shipped...far from ridicoulous pricing. I have not had a lot of problems with the factory decomp levers...scott And that is about as reasonable as it’s going to get. It would be a lot easier to replace it vs trying to repair the original. Original has a flat tab that pushes decomp valve.

I misunderstood Scott.I thought he wanted $20 for the lever, but it was $20 for the lever & handle mount bracket.I agree,$5 for the lever is very reasonable. Ed

I looked on Acres' site & there are two 923's listed. One is the XL-923 & the other is a SXL-923.Maybe they are one in the same? They both have the same stats, except for the engine displacement, one is 82.1cc & the other is 82cc. Ed

If the Super XL-923 exists, it's as much of a ghost as the 545. In terms of the displacement, this body style only had two: 77cc & 82cc. I think that noted displacement difference can be chalked up to human error.

When trying to start the saw the other day without the decomp lever & valve depressed,I noticed it wanted to kick back & yank the grip out of my hand.I know this is due to the timing, hence the reason for the decomp valve.I'm trying to understand how the decomp lever got broke to begin with.I don't think it's possible for the saw to kick back while the decomp valve is engaged,or is it?Most likely it got broke due to carelessness, like getting pissed at the saw because you screwed up the handle & handle mount & threw the saw. I took the carb off today & of courrse the fuel line disintegrated.I was able to put a section of line & a new grommet into the tank, but the section of line & athe grommet going into the air box would not fit.,so I'll see about getting the original fuel line from my parts supplier. Now the throttle shaft has a tiny bit of play in it & I'm wondering if I should replace it now while the carb is out.I noticed on the Tillotson site that they say that the HS151B was used in the XL-923,but on the XL-923 IPL it says that an HS92D,or an HS103B was used.Tillotson doesn't even have a HS92D,or a HS 103B listed.I can't find any model # on my carb. Tillotson's website has limited information I'm afraid. What they show is likely the final supercession part for a given model, not all the versions that could be had along the way. But as Greg pointed out, you luck out on this one with the throttle shaft.

I got the decomp lever put on the saw today & it's working beautifully now.I can pull tyhe engine over & hear it go "woosh, woosh, woosh".Without that decomp valve working when I tried to pull it over I almost ended up on my keister.Lol.A special thank you to Chainsawlady for having the parts I needed & getting them to me in a jiffy.I wish the Postal Service would work a little better than it does sometimes.I was supposed to have the handle mount bracket on Mar.29th,but I guess they decided to give it the scenic route.I have no idea as to when I'll get it & it's pretty much holding up the whole works. Fri.I plan on rebuilding the carb. Now is this the same as the Tillotson 151B where the hi speed jet is set at the factory & shouldn't be messed with,or can I rebuild it like an ordinary carb? Ed

As far as I know, this one is a normal adjustable carb.

Thanks Leon! I found out that it's a HS92D,so I guess it gets a "normal" rebuild.I got the front fuel line in & the filter on too.I went to loosen the screw for the butterfly on the throttle shaft & was I ever in for a fight.I've got this old as the hills screwdriver with a wooden handle that I like to use on the carbs. The tip fits those little screws on the covers perfectly.I tried to use that to loosen the screw & it just wouldn't work.I had to get my next best choice of screwdrivers - this one has an extra large grip for the handle & when I've got a stubborn screw that won't come loose, well that one does the trick. And so it did loosen the screw, but I had to be careful not to strip the head of the screw. Now I don't work for the Postal Service anymore, but this really gets my goat.I bought the handle mount bracket from a seller on Ebay that I've done business with before & never had a problem. He sells parts cheap, but sometimes it takes him a little longer to ship because he has a day job, understood.I bought the bracket & he shipped it out on Mar.26th,I was supposed to receive it by Mar.29th.He resides in Earton,N.Y.,which I looked on the map & it's near Mass.& Conn.Needless to say we're in the same state of N.Y.I live on the west end of the state between Buffalo & Rochester. What I don't understand is why the bracket is now in N.J.& I'll be lucky if I get it by the end of the week. The USPS has their hiccups for sure, but they are so much more economical than anyone else for items under 5lbs. that is is a no-brainer...I recently had some items from the same seller take a detour for some reason, but they showed up. Glad you're making progress on the carb!

A bit of an update - I finally got the handle mount bracket in the mail today! Only a weeek late on the delivery.I also rebuilt the carb today. My parts guy just shipped out my order today with the new throttle shaft & the fuel line from the carb to the metal line.,I should get it early next week.Once the carb is complete I can install it & start cranking.Depending on how much compression it has,I might want to up the bar size from 20 in.to 24 in.It's coming together ever so slowly. I got the handle mount bracket last Fri.& was busy over the weekend cutting wood.Yesterday I went to put the bracket on the saw & found that it doesn't fit.I ordered part # 68766 & it's too wide at the base by 1/8 in..The holes for the shoulder bolts are also too small,& I notited that the bracket is too thick at the base.I looked on the two IPL's on Leon's site & found that there are two different part #'s for the mount,67650-2 & 65607-2.Does one supercede the other,or are they two completely different parts? I wasn't talking about the handle bar at all.I was talking about the handle mount bracket that fits on the side of the saw & is attached weith two shoulder bolts. The handle bar attaches to it. Ed

There are 3 different brackets listed on page 2 of the memo, just below the listings of the different handle bars for the different applications. Isn't that what you were looking for?

Yes,very difficult for me to read though since my neck is fused in 4 places. The # on my bracket is 68766.That's the bracket I ordered & it doesn't fit.The serial # on the saw is 12160386,which bracket am I supposed to use here?I have a vinyl flush cut on it now,but it's been bent.I got a plain flush cut handle from chainsawlady. Will the same bracket work for both handles? My GUESS is 65607. I think you are right with 65607 - bracket. It was changed t 70290 at a later date. I think I may have one. Let me know if you want one and hopefully I can find them. joycewilson26@gmail.com

I found a bracket, part # 65607 on Ebay for $4.50.I hope this bracket is the one I need.
Something I noticed about the throttle shaft lever - it has very little movement to it & I'm not sure if it needs replacing at this point in time.If it has a movement of1/32 - 1/64 in.that'd be a lot. It's barely noticeable. Also I have a pic attached to show the small screw that's missing in the small bracket at the back of the throttle shaft.I can't find it on the IPL,of course the watermarks don't help much as I have a hard time reading the IPL as it is.Any help here is greatly appreciated. Ed
Disregard the part about the idle speed adjustment screrw as I've found that the saw has an external adjustment screw. Ed I finally got the other half of the genuine fuel line in the air box. What a job! I put lube on it & took the end to my grinder at a slight angle to get it started & then had to use a small pen screwdriver to push it through. It only took an hr.to do.I hope this new line lasts another 48 yrs.
