first post here...... I want to thank yall for such a wealth of info on Old Homie saws. I was given a SXL-AO that was my Grandpaw's and he rarely used it. It is mint! The all metal construction really grabbed my attn. The exhaust has a really sweet tone, compared to my dads stihl 310s and 660s. I was given a old blue xl12 not to long ago, in the same condition as my SXL-AO.....mint. I will be replacing the fuel line and re-building the carb tomorrow! I think its gonna be loud, the muffler looks like a tic-tac box with vents in the end! Cant wait to hear it bark! I am bit by the homelite bug now, and corrently searching for a super 66 wiz......

Welcome Honkie! Sounds like you're off to a great start! SXLs are great saws and about as solid as it gets. The super wiz sounds like a handful. Any particular reason that one's got your fancy?
Merry Christmas, Dan

Welcome to HoH ;D Sounds like you have an early XL12. The first ones just had an aluminum box screwed to the cylinder with about 5 slits. Better wear muffs. And if you're in the market for a 100+ cc saw, you just missed a nice 750 on ebay. It closed at $735 Merry Christmas

If you love the all metal chainsaws, find a verticle cylinder Homelite, doesn't matter which one, some were very nearly all metal, literally.
