BJjB What happened to your others?
A homie in good condition, especially the SXL, SEZ, (XL-400, XL-500 if you can find them) are all good mid sized saws.
They might be a lil bit slower than a modern saw of the same CC's, but figure in the facts that they will cost 1/4-1/3 the cost of a new saw (for something in NICE condition) and that they will last nearly forever and their appeal quickly becomes apparent.
Im sure someone else can give more reasons than these.

Well RBW, all I have been running is thes eletric ones and I am getting tired of dragging that danged ole cord around!!! It really sucks 'cause whre I cut there is no power and I have to drag the generator, enough cord so the generator is out of the way, then pack the whole mess up at the end of the day!! Its getting maddening I tell ya!!! Times are a chaingin, maybe I should too?

Any new Homelite I doubt is worth the value of the materials if dissasembled and sold by weight to a scrap heap. However, when you start looking at the saws from 15 years ago or so, then you're talking another story. I'd say the 410 and 540 (aka 8800) were probably the last generation of Homelites that were decent. The Super EZ, 150, even Super 2s are great smaller saws. SXL, 350 and 360 are incredible smaller to mid range saws. Getting a bit larger, the 450, 550 and SXL 925 are good for the bigger trees. The list goes on and on, but if you ask me, Homelites are the saw to run.

Are you just out of yer ever lovin mind?!?!?!?!?? Homelite? A good saw?You dare come to a Homelite site and ask such a question!!!!!!!50lashes and 1 year probation!!!!!!!!!!!I particularly like the early 1970 to late 1980 models.they were built tough, had good weight to them and would last forever.I'm not fond of the newer styles as,as to me, they just arent bult very well. And yes I am a nut for Homelites,as I own 28 of the things, and everyone runs like a champ!!BRING ON THOSE OVER RATED STIHLS!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I'm talking about. Listen to this man, he is wise beyond his years...maybe. Thanks, (I think! ;D) but I've just got the Homelite bug, that's all. My Dad's 350 is what started my fascination with saws. I've looked into older Macs, Stihls and a few other brands, but Homelites just sorta have something going for them in these models when they were in their prime. I sure don't intend to slam other models as all have their pros just as Homies have their cons, but for a guy that likes fixing up older saws, Homelites are my bag. Dan

Doh this forum may be a bad thing for me. I was just looking to rid myself of some parts but all day I have been thinking about how I could get some parts saws back up and running. How many saws does one man need?

I lost count at 40, and started my own forum so people wouldnt think I was crazy. ( But honey, I need these saws so I can know what I talking about) Most are runners but a few are being refurbished. Buy em, have fun rebuilding and or tweaking them, use them for your personal needs for a while so as to enjoy them, then sell them on Ebay for more than you have invested. Its a hobby that pays for itself!

Newbie here. First post. I agree that the older models are great saws. Don't think that I would buy any of the new plastic consumer models being sold today.

Well, I did it, I went out and bought me a gas powered saw!!! I found me a 2100-s with a 48" bar at a garage sale, had to have it!! Brought it home, cleaned it up a bit, filled it with fresh gas and she lit right off!! I got the chain all lubed and filed up, can't wait to put this in some hickory!

Yup the chain tensioner you sent me worked really good.. Not a saw that I would like to cut with for a full day. But it ran nice and is real loud. ;D
