I've got an older EZ automatic (red & white),type 10104,ser.# 10640979.This unit has a Phelon system, which I believe all EZ's had,at least I've never come across an EZ that had a Wico system in it (factory).I noticed the flywheel nut was loose & the flywheel as well.I don't remember being into this saw last winter.Anyway,I pulled the flywheel & replaced the condenser with a known good one, pulled the points out & cleaned them up with a file & emery cloth & put it all back together. As soon as I tightened down the flywheel nut it'd bind & I was unable to turn the engine over.I looked for markings on the flywheel which would identify it as a Phelon unit, but could only find "W Mass." Now the real odd ball thing about this is I put a Wico flywheel on the saw, tightened it down & had no problems with the saw binding,or locking up.I've compared the original Phelon unit to another Phelon unit on another saw & it looks a bit off.Since I don't have another Phelon flywheel,I'll change the saw over to Wico. The flywheel baffles me though.

Yeah, you took the words right out of my mouth.Lol What I don't understand here is why this oddity is on a saw that has been used>I could understand it if it were on a brand new saw.Must be someone was trying to upgrade & got screwed.Lol The only thing is I'm the one who got screwed in the end.

Can you post a picture of the saw? I have several parts saws and could ship you one.

Al,I appreciate your kindness, but I'll be OK.As I said earlier in the thread I'll just change it over to a Wico ignition system. For some unknown reason I like the Wico systerm better than the Phelon system anyway. This is on my "to do" list for tomorrow.I'll keep everyone posted as things develop.
