I have a 1050 with a broken case on the flywheel side. Does anyone know if the case from the C-series is the same and could be used as a replacement? I see the part numbers are not the same so im doubtful but finding a case for a 1050 doesn't seem likely.

Is it just cracked,or broken beyond repair? If it's just cracked maybe you could disassemble the saw & take the case somewhere to be welded?Pics would help.

Well what happened is the lower rear mount, screw hole and all, for the recoil starter is broken off and completely gone. I bought the saw this way. It looks like its been gone for a long time. So welding it back on is not an option unfortunately .

1050's can be tough to find the right stuff for. I am not really familiar with the shape of the area you are talking about but if it is smallish, a welder might build it up to where it could be shaped with hand tools and tapped for the screw hole. Sometimes that process is not difficult and could be done so the repair was not visible.

Wow, don’t know how I missed this. I recently sold a Super 1050 with a blue C5 air box. I don’t know how many parts from the C series will switch over. Let me see if I can find pictures of it.

Only pic that I have just barely shows the blue under the black air cleaner cover. Don't know if any other parts of the case will work. The one on the left. Joe.

Just seeing this thread. My first thought was no, probably several differences, but after looking, it may work. Looked at a Super 1050 and a C91. I was thinking there was some slight differences in the lower area where the OP said his was broke and missing, but after looking, nothing jumps out as being obviously different in the area. In fact, both this C91 and S1050 have a 58170 number stamped on their drivecase. Different revision follows, but both have the same base number stamped. Here's a pic for comparison. Looks like the C5/7/9 used an O ring, so there's likely a small recessed groove on them on the crankcase where it mates to the drivecase to seat the O ring. The C51/71/91 however use a gasket according to the IPL, so it's the same as a 1050. Cs and the 1050 use 12-24s to attach the crankcase and drivecase so no differences there. The throttle handle/carb box looks to be the same fitment. Ignition looks the same. About the only area that looks different is the Super 1050s use a 5/16 stud to attach the cylinder where the Cs use a 1/4 stud. This could be tapped out though for 5/16" without too much headache. Actually, IPLs show the early 1050 as still using 1/4. so it depends on the exact 1050 you have. Not sure if internally there's differences machined out for crank clearance. Can't think of much else that looks different. Dan

There’s a 1050 parts saw on eBay which would be a good deal if it has what you need
