Was able to get hold of the Oregon chain folks. They are helpful but the customer service person wanted to know the number of drive links that were supposed to be on that saw. I am guessing that depends on how long is the bar. So for a twenty and twenty-four inch bar, how many drive links would there be for the XL-102. I am guessing, again, that every brand of saw with say a 24 inch bar would not have the same number of drive links based on where was the sprocket location in relation to rear of the bar. Also, I would guess the sprocket size (diameter and tooth pattern) would be a factor. Anyway, she was asking this in order to find the right chain. Thank you.

The 16" that came with the saw is stamped "HOMELITE 11716501" I believe this to be the original bar (no sprocket wheel at the tip or any other new style addons). But of course you can't get them anymore. You almost have to buy Oregon brand. They are trying to find the correct bar and chain. Chain 3/8 pitch. Bar K095 mount pattern, .050 gauge. So the Oregon customer service lady wants to know the number of drive links required for the saw. A fellow on Arboistsite.com said the 20" bar was 72 links and the 24" bar was 84 links. Do you agree?

I'm thinking for a 24" bar 84 drive links. A 20" would be 70 DL
I'll go throw a 24" oregon bar on an XL-76 and see what it is to be sure.

I just counted the DL. 84 is the number for a sprocket nose bar. That's for 3/8 pitch chain.

Nearly all 16inch HOMELITE BARS, use 59 drive live links of 3/8 chain
