I’m looking to replace my Homelite 245’s original muffler cap because of rust. Does anybody know why Homelite 240/245 Muffler Cap Part #948871 seems to be available in both a louvered and non-louvered version? My original one does not have any louvers and that's also the same version shown on my 245's IPL.

Thanks undee70ss for your provided link to order that part.
I know that muffler cap part is still available for ordering... but the question I posed in this thread is why that muffler cap seems to be available in both a louvered and a non-louvered version? I'm wondering if the louvered version provided some type of enhanced performance, just like a modified muffler might do, but was later replaced by the non-louvered version because of it proving to be a bit too loud. In other words, maybe these are 1st and 2nd generation muffler caps with the same part #. Maybe somebody out there knows the reason for this.
Believe me, I'm not losing any sleep over this matter because, in the end, it is really is just a muffler cap after all. LOL
