Hey folks, new to the forum and i was wondering if you guys could help me out with my saws. My grandfather owned these saws and my father recently gave them to me. Three of them I've had running, one the rope starter wont catch and one is for parts. I was wondering if you can still buy parts for these old saws. If so where... I'll add some pics cause if your like me anything old is interesting. 1st saw - 600d 2nd saw - C-72 3rd saw - ? I dunno, say's WIZ Chain Saw on the tag 4th & 5th - 9-23 I know they are pretty old, Is there a way to know the date of the saws? Thanks.. . . . .

The third one is probably a WIZ. Do either of the 9-23s run? Don't recall ever seeing one of those. No where close to a XL-923 ;D What are you going to do with these saws Get them all running

The third saw is a WIZ but thats all I know about it. I runs but needs a fuel filter. The top saw the 600d runs ok. The last pictured 9-23 runs also. The other 9-23 wont start but its not locked up. Im guessing it was a parts saw for the other one. Im not going to do anything with them just display them in my garage and try to keep them running.
Thanks for the site, I'll check it out.

I had in mind that the 9-23's were gear drive. So hows a 9-23 for an old school direct drive 100cc saw? The one at Acres sure is a beauty. Hey Drock, you going to make these look like that one?[/quote]
They came both ways as did most saws in this series. Assuming that it has spark and good comp, they run a regular tillotson HL carb and should be pretty easy to get running. I have a 990g and I can tell you guys these saws are STRONG. They only run about 7000rpm but you get that 7000rpm no matter what. The only thing on these is that early models had the now hard to find wix air filter element. They can be had, but the later models had a much easier to find automotive style filter.

OldZip, the 9-26 was the designation for the gear drive that was offered along with the 9-23 direct drive. 26 pounds for the gear drive and 23 pounds without. Dan

On the big geardrive, does it have that old style air filter that looks like it is made out of thread? I think I may have a good spare.
Yeah, 7000 rpm, or a bit more if you "field adjust" the vane govnernor.
I have a place on my shelf for a 900/9-something geardrive.

Yeah, right on OZ. I have a good rant about the "modern" Homelites, ya know, like the C types and big XLs.
Maybe another day or night.
