Hello all, I am rebuilding my Homelite 925 Super XL and the cylinder head is dirty. I have searched on line and YT for a video of someone cleaning a chainsaw piston cylinder in a ultrasonic parts cleaner but cannot find anything. Is it safe to do this?

I don't use that method but I am sure it is safe if you use a cleaning fluid compatible with aluminum and magnesium. No strong acids or alkalies.
I just carefully scrape or buff the parts. Anything can be done to excess and the soft metals involved are easily damaged. Just be careful and watch what is happening as you go.

I use a soda (baking) blaster to clean cylinder heads, including the exhaust port, decomp passages and interior dome. As well as piston ring lands. Very gentle yet quick and effective. The baked on carbon comes right off.
