Homelite 240 bar stud size

Would anyone know if 2 different sizes of bar stud were offered for this saw? My type 10636B model made in 1989 has 6mm diameter studs to suit the standard Homelite small saw bar mount pattern with the 6.4mm slot and square hole for the chain adjuster to locate in, as used in my little XLTI models, which have 12" and 14" bars fitted.
I currently have a 16" Ryobi bar fitted which the 240 came with, and it has a larger 8mm slot so I have had to space the bar studs out to 8mm, and also mess about with a plug of aluminium in the end of the slot so that the chain adjuster can be used - all a bit unsatisfactory.
Homelite bars are few and far between in the UK, and rather expensive to ship from the USA due to import tax that would be added at my end, so I have been looking at other alternatives, mainly Oregon make, and this is where my query comes in.
Many of the bars advertised as being suitable for the 240SL actually have the larger 8mm slot, and different type of oil holes that go all the way through the bar rather than just halfway. One seller had photographed the original packet which clearly states Homelite 240SL along with a number of other Homelite saws, but it is the wrong bar mount pattern, so I am confused...
All this would make sense if there were 2 different sizes of stud offered in different models but I have checked IPLs for the 240 and 245 models on Leon's site and all the ones I have looked at have the same bar stud part number.
Any thoughts would be welcome - perhaps Homelite offered stud spacers so a different bar could be fitted?
Incidentally the saw which was in a very rough condition when it arrived with me has cleaned up okay, and more importantly goes really well!

My oregon reference book calls for part # 160DGEA061 as a 16” replacement guide bar for the 240, or the 061 mounting pattern

Per the acres website the 061 mounting pattern has a groove width of 6.4mm- www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/BMP/12?OpenDocument

Do you have part numbers on the bars you’ve looked at? I am thinking those bars you are finding may be a more “universal” fit so they can fit a wider variety of saws. Perhaps they bundled spacers with the bars originally?

The bar I specifically enquired about with the seller is an Oregon marked 34034, which matches my .325 chain and rim. I have taken a screen shot of the information on the packet which clearly shows the 240SL listed, but the seller confirmed that it has the larger 8mm slot. I have previously found other make bars with similar info - all a bit strange because my 240 certainly needs the 061 style mount. I can get a smaller 140DGEA061 in the UK but really wanted to stay at 16" on this saw. Steve

Try 5/16" metal fuel and/or brake line to make spacers .  It will have 1/4" I.D. which should work . Any auto parts store should stock it .

Thanks, I am currently using some coils of an expansion spring (as suggested by someone on this forum) and that gives me the correct stud spacing. It is the different oil hole configuration and the possibility of not being able to use the chain tension adjuster correctly that concern me. I will just have to wait for the correct Homelite or Oregon bar to pop up on eBay at some stage. The set up when correctly adjusted is currently fine - it is just a pain when you take the chain/bar off for cleaning, and then have to fiddle about to get everything back in the correct place. I may have to glue the alloy plug into the bar slot because it has ended up on the floor more than once, and will no doubt get lost at some point!

Of course the worst bit is that the bar has got Ryobi written all over it - I may have to get some black paint out and 'delete' that...

I used the "Brand M delete" on my 32" bar, worked out fine as long as no one gets close enough to see the engraving in the steel. Might have to put some putty in those markings to erase them...
