Very nice. I only have red and a black XL-1's. Yours is the first I've noticed a decomp on.

I had very low expectations for this saw to be honest. It was really dirty and looked like it had been neglected in a garage for a long time. I figured it would be useful as a parts saw if nothing else. Much to my surprise it was a sleeper. Cleaned up pretty good. Tons of compression and works and sounds awesome. It’s manual Oiler only. Weird looking oiler assembly. It is the same casting as a automatic oiler. No input for the auto line, no spot for a oil pump or gear...really odd. 1-1/2 “ bore I believe. This was a great saw with lots of life left in it.

Since it's manual oiler only and has a decompression valve, it's likely to be *Type:50052 ( XL-1 ).
The earliest one on record thus far is a blue/white .. *Type:50052 ( XL-1 ) SN:4224T125 .. '74 model .
I have a red '76 *Type:50052 in my collection, according to last year built listings the UT# was last built in '87.

Unfortunately no tags on this old saw so it takes knowledge like that to get a close estimate.

The one in my collection, a '72 model, has an empty oil pump body which I first perceived as an automatic oiler.
Earliest one on record is a 1969 model. HDC carbs are build date stamped and will get your XL-1 in the ballpark.
Thanks for the recent thumbs-up, appreciation for my efforts go a long way.

I’ll take a closer look at that carb again. The Oiler really threw me off when seen that there was no gear. I thought someone pillaged it at first until I realized there was not machined threads to install the pump mechanism. Love this old saw though!
