I have this XL with many hours on it. I have found hot compression pressures listed (115-145 pounds) but nothing about piston to cylinder clearance or piston skirt minimum diameter. Can anyone point me towards this information?
Thank you for the help. This is a great forum.

Glad you are enjoying HOH!
I'm not aware of Homelite publishing the type of numbers you are looking for. If they did, I fear they are buried in old technical manuals that may not exist anymore.

Thank you for the reply. It seems that what you said is true. I can only find compression specs, nothing about piston to cylinder clearance. With the chrome bore, I guess the manufacturer assumes if the compression is low, either the cylinder is worn or scored (replace) or the piston and/or rings are worn (also replace).

I think you've nailed it. I personally have not had a lot of luck bringing up low compression by just replacing the rings. These parts apparently wear together somewhat evenly.

Late update. I bought a set of rings for the saw. It brought the compression up 9 pounds to 118. The cylinder is worn .0024 in the ring travel area. I'm happy with the result and will run the saw until she dies.
