Congrats! Those are nice little saws. With a good sharp chain those little gremlins can cut pretty good. You’re going to be very happy!

Thank you! I plan to order some parts from the sponsors of this page to give them tune ups etc...I will use them occasionally for general clean up in my maple sugarbush. Mostly they will be in the sugarhouse on display, should make for some good conversations with visitors. I have an XL2 Double trigger on its way to me now as well. What year was the first Super 2 manufactured?

Welcome to HOH! If memory serves, the first Super 2 was around 1975.

I was told once the super 2 came out in 1973, and I *believe* one of my saws is a 1973 model.
Super 2’s are a nice little saw. I’ve got 3 of them. They’re not powerhouses but enough power to get the job done and a nice lightweight package. The double trigger setup is probably one of the most ingenious ideas I’ve ever seen, easy to go from rear handle for firewood and the like to top handle for limbing.

Welcome to HOH! If memory serves, the first Super 2 was around 1975. That could be right as I have the receipt for mine that's dated 7/25/75 A interesting side note about the Super 2. My first wife went to the local farm store to buy a chain saw for me to cut wood for out new wood stove. She talked to the owner and he suggested a Homelite XL-L as all the wood we were going to be cutting was eight inches or smaller. He proceeded to write up the sales slip for 1-Homelite XL-L S/N 50803014 Price with tax $139.05. Next he filled it with gas a proceeded to show her how to start it. After several failed attempts he picked up a Super 2 and a couple pulls and it was running. He took the sales slip and crossed out the XL-L and wrote the Super 2 on it with that serial number, no change in price! 48 years latter I still have that saw and it's my go to saw for 99% of the cutting I do.

Thank you all for the great info! I am happy to start my homelite collection with two Super 2s, one being an early version potentially from the first year of production and the other one being from the 2nd to the last year of production.

Is one of those dates a typo? In you text it says 1967 but in the file name it says 1976. Not a big deal but just wondering. Ken in NY

Yep, typo in my post...the ad is from 1976. I see it says "Not for Reproduction" on that page hope it is ok that I printed out a copy to put in my file for the Super 2. Or are you going to be knocking on my door and demand that I put it in the shredder? Ken in NY

We watermark the Homelite Literature we scan and allow to download to prevent people from reselling it.
