1980's TRIMMER CUTTER - HK24, TD24 Kawasaki motor
Hi everyone -
I'm trying to get back in service a trimmer cutter from the 1980's
HOMELITE HK24 / TD24 motor Kawasaki -
I need a new carburetor -
I tried FARMERTECH but no luck so far - and another site said part no longer available .
Does anyone here know of a good source to find parts for and old machine like this ?
Thanks - Paul from Nova Scotia

Paul, is the reason you need a carb because it is missing from your machine? If you still have it, they can be rebuilt - I have an old Lawnflite 1820 that uses the slightly smaller TG18 engine, but has a similar slide type carb to the TD24. I was able to get a kit with replacement diaphragms etc and rebuild it with no problem. There are any number of kits for the TK unit on eBay. If your carb is missing I doubt you will find a new replacement - they are made by Teikei who are still in business I believe but probably will not have such old parts available. Obviously that engine was fitted to lots of trimmers, so you should be able to locate a used carb easily.
Regards, Steve

Welcome to HOH!
I second the idea of rebuilding an existing carb if possible...new ones are next to impossible to find for these machines. If you have the carburetor manufacturer and model #, I bet we can find a kit.

It was taken to a shop over 10 yrs back - they took it apart ( the carb ) only to give it back in a bag of pieces with " sorry, cant be fixed " ... it's been that way ever since. - - If I had the re-build parts and a schematic diagram, yes - I should be able to do a re-build ... But I would need a diagram, as it was not me who took it apart, so I have no frame of reference to put humptydumpty back together.

Paul if you check out www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com which is an absolute mine of information, you will find in the parts diagrams section, under the Other Homelite equipment IPL's tab, a parts list for your machine which includes a detailed diagram of the carb fitted. Sorry I am not sure how to post a direct link here. Also if you search eBay for TD 24 carb kit you will find the kits you require, either in Canada or the USA, from where I imagine postage is not too difficult? As suggested you could also search on eBay.com for Homelite A 98091 or A 98064 which will again bring up the actual Homelite parts, but you might be best served checking the parts list first to identify exactly what carb you have. I have not got access to my Lawnflite which is at another address, so I can't suggest what markings the TK carb may have on it, or where to look for them. Good luck! Steve

Hi Paul, check the Illustrated Parts List that undee70ss has posted above to ensure that the bag of parts still contains ALL the carburetor pieces. An ebay.ca search for a " homelite 98064 " , will give some choices of rebuild kits that ship to Canada. Clasec has a direct link to the homelite 98091 posted above. An outdoor power equipment or small engine dealer, in your area, that carries Stens products may be able to get a Stens:615-831 gasket/diaphragm kit for the HK-24 carburetor also.

Hi All, Hope you are all well. Checking if anyone may have a good used or new 32mm piston and cylinder for a HK24 Kawasaki motor also used on a KAAZ TD24. Thanks Joe spud60@outlook.com

Try this, the carb adjustment procedure I use, posted a few days ago houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/11528/info-on-xlMay 6, 2022 at 14:18 by sweepleader on May 6, 2022 at 14:18 Put the bar and chain on and see how it cuts. If it runs ok, leave it alone, if it has carb trouble, rebuild is cheaper and you learn more. Check the fuel line all the way to the pickup/filter in the tank, make sure there are no leaks. Then start it up and set the idle speed screw high enough so it will run without stalling. Adjust the high speed mix for good running, a little slower/richer than maximum speed. The engine should sound a little rough when it is right and smooth out when you put a load on it by cutting. After the high speed is set close, lower the idle speed screw until the idle mixture screw has an effect. Adjust it for max speed and lower the idle speed screw some more. Repeat this idle process, lowering the speed screw each time until you get the clutch to disengage and the engine idling smoothly. Check for acceleration lag when opening the throttle, if there is a lag, turn the idle mixture screw out a little and try again. You might have to raise the idle speed screw some. The end result should be idling without stalling, clutch disengaged, acceleration to high speed without stall or bog, max power in the cut. If you cannot tune it for these conditions, rebuild the carb. Replacement should be a last resort in my book. Check the gaskets and reeds when you have the carb apart to make sure they are all in order. Its much more fun if you fix it yourself.
