I stopped by my local saw shop today to see if he had any more Homies that I might be interested in.I felt kinda bad for the proprietor who just had his 2nd back surgery about 3 weeks ago.(as I walked in wearing my wound vac,Lol). We took a ride down the road about a 1/2 mi.where he stores his saws & found he has 4 good SEZ's,a couple more that are seized,& an XL-400 that's also seized.Lots of good parts on the seized saws,& who knows, maybe they need just a little persuasion.I'll be picking them up next week. It's not like I need these saws,I just love those SEZ's! Heck,I think I have at least 8-10 of them now & with the additional 4 or 5 that'll make one heck of an SEZ collection.Of all those SEZ's I only have one blue EZ. Ed

Seems like the blue ez's are regional. I've got a couple and see them from time to time on Craigslist but I've heard from other collectors that they rarely see them. Anyway, good score Ed! That xl-400 is not real common in my area and hopefully you can save it.

I went & picked up the "herd" today.I got an XL-400 that we thought was seized.I got it home & pulled the recoil & found that the flywheel will turn only part way, then it binds.I figure it either ingested something,or crank bearings are bad.I checked the P&C & there's no scoring on the exhaust side. It's missing the AF cover & AF.I forgot to chjeck to see if it has tags. I also got 5 more SEZ's,3 are good,2 are seized. The first (& only) SEZ that I checked out today was quite the fiasco.I went to check for spark & the boot & spring came off the wire.I had to pull the coil, unscrew the wire, put the spring back on the wire & push it back into the boot, then fish the coil wire back into the saw & screw the coil wire back into the coil. Then I had to reconnect the points wire & switch wire onto the coil, remount the coil with the correct air gap.I couldn't check for spark because someone had shortened the coil wire & they didn't do a good job of reattaching the spring, that's why it pulled off.It was a crap shoot to put some fuel in the plug hole to see if the saw would fire,& it did fire! I'll go through the saw more tomorrow & the others as well. I found out a few months ago that the saw shop owner's grandpa & uncle were Homelite dealers back in the day.His grandpa died in 1972.He gave me two good sized boxes of old Homelite literature.I glanced through some of it earlier & the IPL's & such go back to 1973.He told me that there was stuff there that went back to the '60's.He said I could "use" the books & asked me not to sell it because it has sentimental value.I gave him my word that I wouldn't.I told him that I'd donate to this forum whatever you want here,or need.
