There's an XL Grinder on Craigslist Minneapolis. Expensive but pretty cool!

Huh, missed that one. My search was off for some reason. Nice unit, never saw one before. Looks like a stripped down XL100. Those clever Homelite boys, using current parts to make a new model.
I would think that would be a handful, trying to hold it steady with that big wheel spinning. I wonder if it has a reduction gear to limit the speed of the the wheel... And what would it be used for?

I would guess that it is gear reduction. Good question on what it would be used for. Some railroad application perhaps?

If there ever was a Homelite museum, that thing would belong there!

Now that you mention it, I bet it was aimed at railroad welding, or other applications where big plates needed it.

I hope somebody on HOH gets this thing. I guess it's not uncommon anymore to pay a grand for a nice muscle saw and I would have to think this grinder is much rarer. Maybe $1000 isn't out of line?

Guys I should have my hands on one of these grinder versions tomorrow My childhood friend and I collect all things old and we remembered a few things from his grandads shop thst we always thought were cool This being one of them Well me and him are always giving each other gifts and we’ve escalated to some pretty rare stuff He knows I love chainsaws and circular saws and he originally had a Mac 10-10 thst was mint to give me but seemed to have fallen in love with it before he could He went digging in his dads storage for something he knew I’d like And texted some pics of it today asking if this would make me forget about old yellow I said I think it’ll do I had always assumed it was a circular saw until the pics I’m afraid I don’t know how to put them up here but I’ll join up tomorrow so I can
