I'm going to make one thing abundantly clear and I want to all to hear me and hear me good!!!!!!!! I really wish I was in the market for a 750, By the time that I am able to afford one (at today's prices) the prices will have climbed to new unattainable heights

750s are like Pringles..... "ya can't have just one".
Unlike Pringles though, they can significantly set back you're bank account !

Hear me whisper this good.......
I had big plans for an Ash that I was sure was going to come down in even a mediocre storm, hence my buying the 750. The 750 has passed through my hands but the Ash still stands strong and dosent even seem to be breathing hard.
It must be 50" DBH and has a huge crack going from one side through it to the other starting at the roots and going up about 20'. I now believe this tree stands on its own due to sheer mass and may cause a wripple in the space time continuum if it ever does indeed fall.
Yep, I was saving the 750 waiting for one big Ash tree to fall. ;D

Hay Bill, I'm curious. Do you know if the buyer of the pretty saw has got it yet? Can't help but wonder if the saw had decent guts or not.

I am the one that bought the "pretty homelite 750". The 750 is my favorite saw. Anyway I suspected it to be a repaint but after speaking with the seller she said it was not and said it ran well. So at this point if she is lying about the repaint at least i'm lookin at a restored good runner. I still would be over payin in that case, but it's about what ya like. I sold a couple of saws out of my collection to make the purchase so I didn't have to come up with cash. Well the saw showed up and WAS a repaintand though not perfect it is well done (mostly). Also the saw did not run at all. The person who repainted it sprayed paint down IN the carb and there was no spark. At this point I called ebay and asked about my options as the seller was not responding.

Continuing: After explaining the situation to ebay and not getting any response to any attempts to contact the seller, ebay agreed to refund $550.00 of my original payment of $850.00 (with shipping) and I keep the saw. After disassembling the carb and cleaning off the paint then cleaning up the contacts on the transformer it started right up and runs great now. I haven't tested comp yet, but it is quite hard to pull over and I have no worries there. So it ends up that for $300.00 and about an hours work, I ended up with a good running restored homelite. Guess I lucked out huh?

Interesting, I always wondered how Ebay settles Disputes?
I saved all my life for one of those quigley vans, when I flew one-way to Utah to pick up my Ialwayswantedthisreallybad van the engine was huffing from a dead cylinder.(diesel) I worked it out with the sellers broker, they bought a replacement engine and I covered the installation. I never alerted ebay about it. Maybe if I had they would have covered the installation.(not)
good for you. Do you think the seller got the money with held or Ebay bit it to keep a happy buyer??

Hoss, congrats on getting the saw! I can only dream of one at this point. Your last post brings up an interesting situation. you got back $550 because the seller was not honest about the saw, right? But It is a pretty saw, and with minimal work the saw runs great, Right? It's very rare that something on Ebay is represented 100% accurately, we all know that. You knew that going in to the deal, that there was a chance that the saw might have issues, or worse might not be the saw you bid on the, old bait and switch. What if the seller did not know about the issues? By getting $550 back, it almost seems that the seller is being punished. was that ebay's figure or yours? Maybe Ebay trys to send a strong message to fraudulent sellers? I don't know. Hoss, I'm not trying to be a prick to you and I'm not trying to question your character. It just doesn't sound like you went through $550 dollars worth of grief. I guess if the $ figure was there idea, then you won big time!! Post up some pics of that sucker in some big wood! We want to see big rooster tails of chips! Jim

Hoss, I'm very glad to hear you ended up with a good running saw. To be honest, I'm very surprized, since it was obvious the seller was lying about the paint, I figured there was an equally good chance they were also lying about the condition of the engine. Sounds like you lucked out on a great deal (even though from the seller's perspective, they probably feel robbed). CSW has made some good points above.

The dollar figure was ebays idea. I tried to contact the seller and suggested a refund of $350.00 before I had it running, but the seller refused to respond just as she refused to respond to the calls and e-mails addressing my concerns about a repaint or the running condition that I sent her BEFORE she sent the saw. We could have resolved this between us well in advance of ebay even knowing if she had just returned my efforts to contact her. Also you guys should know that after I read this post I called (the only call she answered) her and asked about some of the specific point brought up in this thread and she lied directly to me while she was looking at the saw. I have never tried to "get over" on anyone. When I contacted ebay all I was trying to do was explore my options, that's when they suggested the refund from them.

Also the one call where we spoke was the call she asked for in the listing in which she told me she would NOT accept paypal and I would have to send a money order. After that she refused to answer me and the only contact after that was her telling me she had already sent the saw and here are the tracking numbers. I sent her a message at that point telling her that since she had not addressed my concerns despite many messages and sent the saw anyway, that if there was a problem I would involve ebay. Also Ebay did not tell me weather they are even going to pursue her for the money or not.
