Imagine many have noticed the bright and shiny 750 that's popped up on fleabay. Its a nice looking saw, but its obviously been painted up to look nice. I have trouble feeling good about this seller since there's no mention that it has a fresh paint job. Here's the clues I've spotted that show is not original. How many can you spot? Its kinda like one of those find-a-hidden-picture games. First pic... air filter nut, gas, and oil caps are obviously not from a pristine saw. At least clean 'em up! You can see the outline of the HOMELITE decals on the air filter cover. Not original painted on. Second pic... That's a pretty muffler ;D. He needs a new cover for it, and its a dead giveaway on the shape of the saw. Also, the transformer is another indicator. No attempt to clean up the plastics. More views of the air filter nut and gas/oil caps. Third pic... Painted-over bolt heads. Looks very bad. Also noticed the paint on the air filter retainer bolt that protrudes above the air filter nut. Look at the starter cover. The vertical slits that show between the 750 decal show the real story. He probably just taped this off. There's a slit in the rear grip like its from a 750E saw. Maybe he got a replacement as the original very likely was tattered. I hope I'm not pounding on a member here that's trying to sell their saw, but come on, at least state that its been "restored" to be honest and not lead someone to think its in original condition. How many more clues can you spot? Dan

Some may argue that a hole might actually help matters, but I won't go there... anyways, the whole point was to bring attention to another shifty fleabay deal. The guy isn't being fully honest, and I think it bites. Someone is gonna pay money and not get what they think, unless they are very careful. Dan

Is he a crook All he is saying is it is clean saw in good condition with a 36" bar. It is possible he acquired it in this condition, who knows. Certainly it has had some touch up work after all, even the newest 750 would be 20+ years old. I wish people would turn the flash off when they take pictures BTW, he only has 8 feedbacks. 7 days to close

hmmm... don't think "crook" has been used yet to describe him. Not being fully honest is another story. I asked the simple question to the seller about compression, and also asked if he performed the paint job himself. So far no reply. I don't expect one. At this point, I consider him a sneaky jb, and just hope that whoever "wins" will be happy and not unpleasantly surprized.

Well, it ends tonight. Still no reply to my question regarding comp and who did the paint job. Really hope somebody doesn't end up disappointed when this one's over.

I forgot to add that the other day I asked the guy about the paint. He said that thats how his dad got it years ago and he hasnt touched it. At least you got a reply! I must have really bad BO or sumthin... ;D. I never heard back from him. Can't believe somebody paid that much for a saw with a pretty paint job. That's a good chunck more than I paid for my NOS one. Again, just hope all parties end up satisfied in the end. I really smell BS here. It is possible, yet hard to believe that years ago someone would make decals and have restored the saw. Looks like a recent resto with fresh decals. Again, its possible, but I have a feeling this seller is not on the level. Dan

It is very possible that the decals on the 750 were from me....he could have bought them on ebay from one of my distributors. It does have all its decals on it. I will say that his application of the decals needs a little work....looks like he just slapped them on and took pics....I would be willing to bet that they did not get a good sealer coat on them. That means first time gas hits them, they are toast.

LOL! Yea, I'm kinda torn whether to feel pity for the person shelling out that much money for that saw, or whether to be firm and just think that some idiot has just got their money's worth.

Maybe. But he claims his dad got it this way years ago. I also think theres some hokey bizness going on. I hope the jackass that paid the 785 clams gets a wakeup. That right there is more money than brains. Maybe HE works for Trump up there with daustin. Hey Doug, ask that guy what the hells wrong with him! The buyer is not a jackass and is a very good guy. Now for the seller that is yet to be seen. NOTE I did not buy the saw Bill

Bill, if you know the guy, I hope he's aware then of the true state of that saw. He/she musta wanted it pretty bad to shell out that much. Hope they know what they've purchased.

I am extremely happy that the value of the 750 continues to go up. Congratulations to the buyer. Well played. Remember group someone else thinks that saw is worth $784. If that particular saw has excellent compression and healthy ignition we all know the value of the BC piston ect...
Supply and demand. and to some extent timing.

Supply and demand. and to some extent timing. Add to that a little greed, haste and having the extra cabbage to throw at one, and you're starting to paint a complete picture ;D. I'm neutral whether values on a 750 go up or down. I have some so ain't desperately lookin' and ain't planning on selling any of 'em, so the market is in a large degree irrelevant. Sorry, but that much dough on a saw that is in unknown condition and obviously painted up and from a low-feedback seller can't be a wise business decision. I do hope the saw will be a good one and the buyer won't be disappointed. Truth is though that I will not be surprized to hear the saw is not in proper mechanical order and will end up costing a few hundred more to fix right. Dan

The buyer saw something that grabbed his desire. Saw-king had a 750 supported with a video that ended soon after the first one It brought less money.....
I fully understand desire and haste. it is closely related to oppourtunity.
