Hi all,I just got an XL-700 for $83.It's supposed to run & oil well. The thing is when I get the saw I won't be able to lift it or even start it.I'll get some pics on here as soon as I can. Ed

I got the XL-700 today & put a different bar on it that I had here & the chain that came with it.Thesaw is in great shape for it's age (1969 ish).I had my son who works construction pull it over to see how the compression was.I don't think this saw has cut that much wood in the past 50 yrs.IMOI can't wait to fire it up! Sorry for the crappy pics.

I've never seen a red XL-700 from the factory. If that red is original, you have a pretty uncommon saw there!

I believe it is in fact factory paint because there are areas on the saw where the paint is flaking off & there's no other color paint under it.I had another member PM me & ask me if I was sure it was indeed an XL-700 & not an XL-800.I told him that I have an XL-800 here somewhere buried & it's nothing like that saw, this saw is much lighter than the XL-800.The drivcase cover says XL-700,but I know that doesn't mean much.I did find an ID# just behind the fuel fill,it's 2130224.Also,I think I need to point out that the saw is a"Christmas Tree" saw,it's red & white & the handle is green.

Model name should be above the Serial number and just below "Homelite" of the ID tag.
EDIT: Looked at the seller's pics of the ID tag ... indeed a "HOMELITE XL-700 CHAIN SAW".

I'm glad it's been confirmed.Thanks 5terrysupersaws! I need to replace the drum & rim sprocket,it's all chewed up,most likely from running a loose chain while cutting.The problem is the part # A59552 is virtually non-existent.It's a 3/8 7T drum & rim together..I can get a 3/8 7T spur sprocket,part # A64368 ,but I'd rather have the rim sprocket. XL-700-800 IPL 23974 rev.3 , lists the Drum/Hub as part# A-65990 for the XL-700 .. Rim Sprocket : 68210 , 63284
Super XL-AO uses the same splined hub and drum : A-65990 ... some on eBay
