A friend of mine got a red super wiz 66. I asked what the serial number is out of curiosity but the tag is missing. If chainsaw collectors corner is accurate, these were made up through 1983. If this is a late one, is there a chance that it would have had a sticker instead of the metal id tag? Just wondering if the sticker might have come off. Any other way to tell approximately what year it is?

Depending on the carb, it may or may not be stamped with a date somewhere.
Greg or one of these other gurus will just look at a picture and tell you the month & year based on their superpowers that the rest of us still just don't understand.

The bucking spike... Never would've thought of that.

Buddy said that there are no rivet holes for a tag so it must have had a id sticker. Approximately what year did they switch from metal id tags to stickers?
