This little saw is one of my favorites. It ran like a top,but it had a couple of other problems. One of the screws for the handle mount bracket was stripped out & the manual oiler wouldn't work anymore. When I took the saw apart a couple of months ago to sum up the situation I was a bit surprised at what someone did to try to fix the stripped out screw problem. It looked like they'd made a makeshift helicoil & used a screw that looked like it came off the recoil cover.Of course it didn't work,at least for very long.I ordered a true helicoil kit & had it sitting around for the last month or so till this last Sun.I decided to repair the stripped out threads.Well wouldn't you know that I had to supply my own brand new drill bit,& wouldn't you know that bit was the sharpest bit I'd ever had.It had a mind of it's own as it sucked itself right down into the oil reservoir.Lol Time to break out the JB Weld as it didn't go through completely.I inserted the helicoil & put it all back together & thought it was good to go till I picked up the saw today & noticed that the handle had a wobble in it.I took the handle off completely figuring that maybe one of the grommets in the handle on the bottom of the saw was worn out. That wasn't the case, they were surprisingly good as new.I then took the handle bracket off again & saw that the little plate was missing. To the parts saw! I got the plate I needed & put the saw all back together again & now it's as solid as the day it was made. The manual oiler issue was solved last week when it was time to raid the parts saw & take the oil plunger out & put it in the poor little EZ.I put some fuel in it & a few pulls later the little red beast was ready for the forest. Nice Ed!
I enjoy running my SEZ (I am assuming your saw is an SEZ-like EZ and not an original EZ model), lightweight and packs a punch for power.

Nice Ed! I enjoy running my SEZ (I am assuming your saw is an SEZ-like EZ and not an original EZ model), lightweight and packs a punch for power. I'm not sure which mine is as it's missing the ID tag. It's lighter than my SEZ & older too with the handle painted red by the factory. When I first got it,it had a Zip Penn hard nose bar on it & the chain was never sharpened properly - it was almost square with no angle to the cutters.I tried my best to put an edge back on the chain, but it was just too far gone.I just pulled up a couple pics on my phone & it's a SEZ. They are handy little saws with a good amount of power. I have an ez automatic that I like to cut with occasionally.
