Hi folks, I just inherited a ST-400 brushcutter which I have no use for. I want to sell it but have no idea what it's worth if anything. I just got it yesterday so don't know if it runs. It looks like all parts are on it including the original harness. I was going to have someone try to get it going for me but want to know if it's worth it. What's it worth if it's running? What if it's not? Can you still get parts for it? I'm located in Ottawa, Canada. What's the fuel to oil ratio? Any insight you can provide on this model and how old it might be would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ST-400 is s 54cc brush cutter that uses a XL12 engine. Very heavy duty. Guessing value if worthless without pics. More people would be interested if you are willing to ship it, requires taking the engine off.

Thanks in advance. Hi Paul, Condition is everything and determines value. Homelite-Terry did make a version of the ST-400, but the IPL is not dated, so the UT and Serial number is needed from the ID Tag to provide an accurate date of manufacture. Guessing the late eighties. These aren't that common and "some" parts may not be readily available. The fuel to oil ratio would be 32-40:1 depending on oil used.

Just to echo what others have said its a good trimmer. Very heavy duty but also very heavy in general... so probably worth more to a collector than somebody who is actually going to use it.
Can probably reach more people and get a better price with shipping but as undee said will require disassembly. Post some pics if possible as condition really makes the difference.
You can ask 10 people and get 11 opinions about oil mix. I'd say with a good modern oil you can pry get away with 50:1, but I run all my stuff at 32:1 to be safe.

Thanks for the replies guys. I just brought it to someone I know who's a small engine mechanic (I'm useless at that) to see if he can get it going. I will post pics and serial number as soon as I get it back.
