The C72, on Acres, shows the same bar mount as the 1050 and 404 chain. My C72 came without a bar. I have a couple 24"s laying around from the 1050's. I think I have one hard nose and one roller or sprocket. I just took a glance at the clutch bell on the C72 and the only thing on it is 38. Just wanted to make sure that's not for 3/8's?

The 38 is for 3/8 chain, you can run either on the C series’s. Best is to find a rim drive sprocket so it is an easy swap back and forth.

I probably have a 404 assembly around here. I'd rather run 404. Thanks, Joe.

Not sure about a 1050, I just sold a C-51 and C-72 with old original Homelite bars. Both bars had fairly wide tails with a high oil hole. My guess is, if the oil hole lines up, probably good to go.

Acres lists all of the C series and the 1050 as the Homelite style 16 mount, which is the Oregon FO14, with 404 chain. I should have the parts I need around here.

All the older C series that the Homelite 1 mount (Oregon F014) Homelite product catalogs show the C-72 taking the Homelite 5 mount (oregon D196)

Thanks Greg. I’m going to check my C51, it’s not running and has a bar and chain on it. The clutch drum on the C72 has 38 stamped on it, and I held a loop of 3/8 on it and it fits nice. If the C51 is 3/8’s I’ll stick that one on the 72.

Greg, or anyone, my C51 bar has the same mount as the 45" bar I bought for my 1050, one laying on top of the other. The C51 has a number stamped on it that looks like 035 64922. It has some other numbers I can't make out. The clutch bell is stamped 38 also. The bar on the C51 looks like one of my old 1050 bars, and I may have stuck it on there just for a photo op. I'm pretty sure it's an .063 bar. I was checking old pics and I'm pretty sure the C72 is one of the 8 saws a friend gave me. They were her Dad's saws, and he was a competitor of my Dad back in the 70-80's. I think this is one of her saws because I have a pic of a C72 with no bar. Only one saw she gave me had a bar on it, and that was the running Wizz Super 77 that got stolen out of my front yard. If I put a loop of 404 on it and it looks like it fits properly should I try to start it? I trust your resources, but, I'm still a little confused with both my 51 and 72 having a 38 stamped in the clutch bell, and Acres showing all of the C's taking the f014. Anyway, I'll be tied up for a few days before I can mess with it again.

The C51 takes the same bar as the S1050. (oregon F014). C51's came with 404 standard. C52 and C72 came with either 3/8 or 404. Homelite literature states C72 uses a Homelite 5 mount (oregon D196, same bar as SXL SXL925 ect...). I don't own a C72 so I can't confirm or deny this. It would be best to put the C51 and C72 side by side with the clutch cover off and see if there are any differences in the bar mount pad, take pics. One can run 3/8 on the older C series by changing the clutch drum.

When I get back from WV I’ll snap a pic side by side. I’ve got several XL925’s. I’ll see what one of those bars look like. I have a brand new 30” for a 925.

You have to take the Homelite information on Acres site with a grain of salt. It isn't always accurate, including/especially the bar mount info. That little voice in your head told you check here first for a reason.
