Obviously this all looks original, but I always thought that the two-tone white scheme that existed in the early 70's included the clutch cover? I agree with Undee70ss above, repaint your existing bar with original style artwork, I do it all the time. Beautiful saw none-the-less. Steve

Steve That I do not know, i'm a Mac guy learning the ways of Homelite! I would assume this is the original clutch cover, as the original owner was pretty meticulous about upkeep and keeping all the original goodies!

Steve I've just become a good bit more interested in the lineage of the various alterations up the timeline. I just had a friend up in Connecticut grab what I think is a later, December-ish 1974 Super EZ-AO. This one does have the two tone red/white clutch cover but also has a red air filter cover instead of the black one here.

I'm fairly certain that the red air filter covers were limited to the slightly smaller (cc's) EZ version. These were made from 69-74 (i think).

My first thought was it would be easy enough that somebody switched the air filter cover on this recent acquisition to a red one but also remembered that I have an EZ Automatic and it has a black air filter cover.

Now that is a sweet score there. I need one of those homelite gas cans. I have a strange obsession with gas cans. I mean strange! lol I have so many from latvian jerry cans, "tactically acquired" Scepter jerry cans from when I was in the Marine Corps, blitz, teepee and others. Probably have 30-40 gas cans! haha Wow, beautiful saw! Makes you wonder if the guy put an old worn bar on it. The saw looks like a shelf queen.
And I hear you on the gas cans. I'll give new price for an old gas can at an auction to get one without all the Ralph Nader crap, one you can actually use with only 2 hands! One that gas will actually come out of! Had to buy a new safety can in a pinch on a camping vacation last summer. Almost threw it away when I got home, then I just "modified" it.

Looks like i may have been a little ahead of myself. I just double checked some reference material and it looks like the early two tone SEZ 's may have also come with red covers. No dates on the material though.

Yep I can't stand that safety "no-spill" but spills everywhere, big brother knows best, soy eating, chai tea drinkin, waste of plastic cans they make these days! haha I have converted a number of them to regular spouts and added the vent. I also pay new prices for them old cans, especially if they are branded with Stihl or Homelite, etc. I tell ya as far as a modern combo can goes the Husky ones they sell in Europe are awesome for modern saws.

Hadn't thought about shopping for gas cans in Europe! Can you buy strike anywhere matches over there too? Wooden matches these days won't even light on the D**n box!! We light them with a lighter....

That I am not sure, I think a couple years ago I wound up with some when I was in Romania, but then again you can get anything there! lol I have heard Penley brand ones made in Chile are the closest thing to the old real strike anywhere matches.
