ok...so after spending 3 hours working on an old Husqy 61...and getting nowhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I pick up the xp 1000 I bought last fall....put a new plug in it....choke ...pull 2-3 times and it fires ,but didn't catch Pull again....now the recoil wont engage??? so I take it off...and .....how the hell does this set up work? is it something to do with the needle bearings I see in there,of which one is missing??? somebody help!!1LOL I'm kinda frazzled right now on a good note...massy ferguson red is a pretty close match for a color resto!! but I hate to do a resto and have a non running saw. which leads to my next question....when it did start...the clutch hub spun non stop for about 15+ seconds after it stalled??? no bar/chain attached.....am I likely looking at a clutch rebuild as well??

You have Homelice in the starter, Raid will take care of that.
So, you have that greezy magic fingers grabbing a polished shaft starter? Sorry, I'm no help.
It's nomal for the clutch drum to spin like that, without a b/c on it.

I have a bit of experience with the needle cam lock style recoil.
Clean and Dry....
that is my secret.
