I decided I wanted to run this saw a bit more before the paint job, so I took it as a backup to my 410 yesterday. Good thing too, as the 410 ended up with a plugged oil port and I had to shut her down to avoid burning the bar! The first log is some 1/2 seasoned Madrone. Somewhere around the 6:00 minute mark I got a nice reminder of pinched bar kickback on a gear drive...they aren't like a direct drive where the clutch just slips and you pull the bar with a little grunt. This bastard pushed out HARD, but because I had a good solid grip I could control it but it certainly caught me by surprise! The second tree was a bone dry Doug Fir that was just about to turn punky. One more winter and it would have started to rot, but we got to it time.

Saw was cutting pretty good. Gear drives are unforgiving when pinched, and even worse with bigger saws and longer bars.
