My score of the week, Oregon 10AC 1/2 pitch, .063 gauge, 100 foot roll, and its all there!!!! Now I can't believe no one else bid on this or even watched it. I never even expected to get it as I put in a low bid. Ive seen a lot less chain sell for way way more. www.ebay.com/itm/292969637435

That's a pretty nice score Greg. Even though I know it's rare these days, it's hard to believe I'm saying that about a $400- roll of saw chain.
Probably nobody bid on it because they started the bid so high instead of letting the auction process take it's place. I've always started my auctions at just a few dollars or so and never failed to have the low starting price spark the feeding frenzy that ends in a higher price than most other people have gotten for the same item. It's a psychology game.

The price I paid including shipping, is less than .036 a driver. This is the best price I have ever seen on 1/2 chain on a roll, and is probably less than what the chain sold for new back in the day. See the list prices on rolls of chain in the 1968 Oregon catalog.
25 foot rolls usually sell for 250 to 300+ and they sell fast if/when they come up for sale. Current production 404 in 100 foot rolls are over 400.00.

You must have missed the point I was trying to make, about 1)my complete lack of experience buying chain in rolls of any quantity & 2) buying any chain bigger than 3/8" pitch aside that which is mounted to the saws I buy.
I probably did have the 25 foot rolls on my mind... Don't mind my whining, bask in the glory of a great deal.
I do however get a sour taste in my mouth every time I look at rolls of chain though. I've looked on Bailey's and such and doing the math, there doesn't seam to be any benefit, in price, between buying a 100" roll or buying that much chain in pre-made loops. You would think buying both semi-finished product & in bulk, that there would be a pretty decent discount but there isn't really any. Or, I need to stop doing math when my blood/alcohol level is inappropriate to the task.
With practically anything else out there, there are pretty respectable bulk/quantity discounts.

Buying rolls is a good bit cheaper if you need or use that much. Of course you already have to have a breaker and spinner to make your loops. Now if I was a seller type and smart (Im not) I would take two 25 foot pieces off that 100 foot roll and sell them, get my money back and have 50 feet of chain for free.

Still got 10AC from the roll I bought last year. Did up a 60 inch bar for my 990g project and that was it. lol I think I scored 50 or 75 feet on that roll for $225 shipped. Original box and links with it. Nice find for you though. Always nice to have original nos chain laying around.
