I got my hands on a nice older Super EZ that I can't get to run quite right. It won't respond well to my adjustments and it either wants to keep stalling at idle or wants to die when coming off of high speed.
The carb says its a Walbro SDC, similar to a Mac 10-10, but CSCC says it's an HDC. Can anyone shine some light on this problem? The older guy I got it from says it's not worth fixing, he didn't want to put any money into it but it's a nice older saw and I'd like to get it running again.

Homelite could have used two different carbs during the production run of that saw, or it could have been swaped. CSW

Angel, All the IPL's I looked at show an HDC as the proper carb. I dont have any idea of the differences, like bore size etc. Maybe that is the problem, too much carb for the cc's? Just guessing there. Did the old guy say the saw ran right in the past? I dunno, he never ran it, he got it from somewhere else. It smelled like old gas had been in it. I can get it to start and idle okay for a few seconds but then it always wants to die, and it doesn't seem to want to respond to my adjustments well. The high speed is a mess, it's all over the place. I cleaned the carb good so I have to think it's the diaphragms in there.

Have you replace the fuel filter in the gas tank and is the fuel line in good condition? ;D

But you say you HAVE been thru the carb and cleaned it? Yep. It was pretty clean but smelled like old gas. The diaphragms were a bit stiff.

Just an FYI, I got my kit for a HDC at my local Napa store. I'll bet they have SDC kits as well.
