That was my thought too. I'm hoping the internals are in good shape as well.

Nice score. I was the bid under you. My connection stalled out while bidding. Glad it went to a good home. Let us know I will be sure to. I don't buy on ebay very often for that reason, I am always worried I'm bidding against a friend. Truthfully I almost myself lost out as I was outbid with only a few seconds left. I put in one last bid and got it for exactly the bid. There is only one photo of the ID tag and its hard to see, but looks like maybe a XL98A. Also looks like it may be terry made, not sure if that changes the model at all.

Well we do know you'll need at least the handle grip.Lol Don't give up too quickly,it may just come together with a little fiddling & soaking the DSP & rings in some penetrating oil.I have seen worse & I' have seen better. It's all part of the Ebay game, sometimes you get screwed & sometimes you don't. Ebay is most usually on the buyer's side.If yopu're not happy, contact the seller & do some complaining. You could get a partial refund,or if you want, send it back entirely.Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Turns over easy? Very first thing to do is pull muffler and inspect piston. This will tell the whole story.

I'll do a full inspection before I do any complaining but chances are I won't, I don't think the guy "ripped me off", I knew it was sold as-is. I am going to leave feedback that states the saw was packaged poorly and with shipped with fuel in it though.
First thing i plan to do this weekend is pull the muffler and see what I can see. Hopefully some working over with penetrating oil and it'll be okay. Anybody have a good source for piston/rings/cylinders?

Unfortunately most of the demolition saws I ever saw come through the shop had sucked so much concrete dust that the internals were more than shot. Even with the better air filter, the fine dust is just hard to stop. Hope you didn't get ripped off. Good luck and wish you the best. Fingers crossed!!

I am well familiar having looked for one for several years haha. Im hoping since it's in good cosmetic shape that it hasn't seen much use and thereby isn't ruined inside. Also good that it has a metal blade, I think the concrete dust is really what does them in

Well I couldn't resist and decided to pull the muffler. Any hope I had of it just being the rings stuck was quickly eliminated. Piston is HEAVILY damaged, several deep grooves. The cylinder actually looks okay from what I can see but judging by the piston I'm not holding my breath. I'm not sure how the bottom end will be, guess I'll have to tear it down and just see from there. Is it possible to frakenstein an SXL-925 and this saw? See some decent ones for sale for around here once in a while.

That does look kinda nasty. If you only need a piston kit that'd be a blessing.Let me know what you need,I've got a guy that'll take care of you. Ed

Thanks Ed, I'll know more this weekend. Honestly if I could get away with just a cylinder and piston I'd be happy. I guess I am hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
