Hi, I picked up a Super XL-925 with a 30" Oregon bar that I want to use for milling some small/medium logs. Once I cleaned out the black sludge in the fuel tank and put in a new fuel line/grommet the saw seems to run great with 180 psi cold. The model # is 10510 and the serial # is TB310143 and it seems that this saw was made in Canada. I'm trying to find out some more info on the year it was made and also what the best service manual and IPL to use for this saw. The 5th edition Homelite repair manual says that this saw should only have a manual chain oiler but this saw also has a working automatic oiler. Here are a few questions that I have: - Is there an adjustment for the automatic chain oiler? - Is there a way to identify which type of magneto on this saw without taking things apart? - Is there a better service manual out there for this particular saw? - I use Stihl 1/50 oil mix for my other saws. Should I be able to use that with this saw? - Is it recommended to use a plug inserted piston stop to remove the clutch? Thanks for your help, Roger

The 5th edition Homelite repair manual says that this saw should only have a manual chain oiler but this saw also has a working automatic oiler. Built in 1980, on the 310 day of the year, 143 saw built that day - Is there an adjustment for the automatic chain oiler? No - Is there a way to identify which type of magneto on this saw without taking things apart? Would have the 3 piece ignition - Is there a better service manual out there for this particular saw? Not really - I use Stihl 1/50 oil mix for my other saws. Should I be able to use that with this saw? Yes, but you must tune it for that mix - Is it recommended to use a plug inserted piston stop to remove the clutch? IMO, no, it puts to much pressure in one spot on piston, especially on saws where the plug is angled to the piston. I use the rope trick. Turn crank till piston is at TDC, turn till piston goes down 1/4 inch or so, jam as much rope as will fit through plug hole, turn crank back till its locked. I use a thin screwdriver through plug hole to determine position of piston. Do not turn crank the other way as it could get caught in ports. Clutch is left hand threads.

Undee70ss, thanks for the quick response and answers.
Dan, thanks for your awesome post with pictures on your 925 rebuild! I wish I would have seen that before I replaced my fuel line and grommet.
Great Website!
