Couple of big old Homelite jugs? Not sure of model, 5-20 or similar, maybe? The ones that have the partial muffler box, or whatever you want to call it, cast into the cylinder.
And what does a 69711 fit. Looks familiar. 69714 is SXL and 69715 is XL12 but don't recall the 69711 right now.

I guess not. Blowing up the pic, the closest one ( the 69711) looked like it could be a 69716, that’s when I bought the lot. What I got were two NOS A69716 cylinders which fit the XL500, which are about impossible to find, new/used or otherwise. Here’s another deal I got about a year ago, someone listed a Homelite cylinder part number 22360, no other information, bidding starting at 9.99. There is no cylinder with that part number. That number is the box number. Blowing up one of the pics, I could see A69712 and very faint 1050. A69712 fits the Super 1050’s and 1130G saws. Now these sell north of 100, if and whenever one comes up. This one sold to me real reasonable probably because the seller didn’t show all the information on box, and the other bidders probably didn’t know what it really was. If the seller would have used the correct part number or had 1050 in the listing, the outcome would probably have been different. I only showed 2 examples, but you can find deals on eBay, in the sea of junk and overpriced items.

I have also acquired saws and related memorabilia in a variety of ways (craigslist, ebay, word of mouth, etc.). I would have to say that my favorite way is still at swap meets/ flea markets. You never know what will turn up! It seems that prices on the older vertical cylinder saws are climbing more each year. I suppose that's because they have a more antique look. There is something magical about walking around a big swap meet/flea market/junk fest with some buddies looking at treasures!

If you already have one of these beauties, then you can't go wrong with another for that price as a parts saw. Ed

We’re putting in hardwood floors in a couple weeks, so we’re getting the big family room painted. I got down for a break and saw that my cousin called twice. I called him back and he said he was at an auction with a giant David Bradley, a Super EZ, and a 360. I told him to go $50 on the DB and $10 on the others. With tax and buyers premium, I got the DB for $30.07. It pull all 130CC’s over with good compression. It’s a 5G21 with a Power Products engine. The Super EZ sold for $10 and my cousin won’t go a dollar over what I say, and the 360 went for $12.50. Soon as I get the saw home I’ll post pics, Joe.

My deals are not explainable.....I guess I could say I've been severely lucky with some of my finds. Like the two sought after stick shifts I have. First one given to me....2nd on craigslist for a price way less than I was willing to pay. I've found I don't LOOK for deals...I let them find me. Knowing people from saw shops due to working for them is awesome as well. They all keep an eye out for me if a freebie or cheap one comes around. Heck Leon knows the story of a 9-26 I came across for $50 that was PRISTINE. Unfortunately I was 30 minutes late. lol I picked up this 7-29 at an auction for $60, it went to a collector in Australia. I didn't want to sell it, but he made me an honest offer I couldn't pass up.

Wish me luck, I'm at my first real auction of the year. I'm an hour early so I got the first parking space. They have a blue and white XL12 that looks pretty nice, an XL30 Bandit that looks Ok, and a Mini Mac.

Man I got the royal bugger job on this one. I got to the sale an hour early and no one was there. At 630 another couple pulled up and asked if it was the right place. I said yeah, but I've got a bad feeling this was an on line only sale. The listing I saw didn't say online only. They looked up the auctioneers home website, and sure enoght it was online bidding only, and the sale didn't begin at 7, it ended at 7. I'd like to know what two greasy little saws that you could not look at sold for? The XL12 looked pretty good, but if you can't pull the string? RATZ.

A lot of auctions are going online to get a larger amount of bidders and hopefully more for their items. Some are even doing shipping.

OK, auction season officially started today. My cousin got this one for me. It's a 150 Automatic, pretty clean, runs great, new chain on saw, two sharp chains in case, 2 new plugs in case, one scrench and one screw driver, and the case. Whopping $5, Joe.
