Is it possible to remove the grip from an aluminum handle bar and put it on another bar? I would like to remove a green grip from a beat up handle and put it on a good handle that doesn't have a grip. Just wondering if anyone has attempted this with any success.

I have not tried that.
I would think that they are just "shrunk" on to the bar but that having been on there for 50+ years, they just might be stuck.
If the bad bar is really bad a guy might think about cutting it but that would of course have to be done at night behind the barn so as no one could see it happening. It might allow a criminal to get under the grip with a burglar tool to loosen the grip's grip on the bar. Some mild heat might help too but it would have to be applied with caution.
Anyone else really have any experience with this problem, a solution that would not get a person a long trip off a short pier?

Boil the handle in water (more even heat and more controllable than a heat gun) and see if the grip comes loose without cracking. If it won't stretch around the corner(s) of the old damaged handle- it won't help- because you also won't be able to get it over the nice handle.

That's worth a try. Even if it doesn't work, I'm not out anything. Thanks
