While searching for plugs & doing cross references I've found that the three most popular brands of spark plugs are Champion,NGK,& Bosch, not necessarily in that order. There are other brands out there that I know nothing about - Denso & Torch are two that come to mind that I've never even heard of till the last 1 1/2 yrs.Does anyone know anything about these last two plug mfgrs.?Are they a good plug to use,or are they not so good (prone to fouling out, etc.) Then there are the old stand bys - Prestolite (if you can find them),Rotary & Oregon.I suspect that the latter three are made by a mfgr.for those three companies, correct me if I'm wrong. If anyone can shed any light on this subject it is greatly appreciated! I have had some experience with Denso, they seem to be fine. Torch seems to me to have been cooked up by a marketing dweeb on his way out the door, trying save his job. That worries me from a user point of view, I do not have any experience with them so bear that in mind with regard to my comment.
Having changes sparkplugs professionally in cars for some time, I have come to respect NGK and AC. I am not certain that relates directly to 2 cycles, I have never used an AC plug in a saw. I really like the fine tip, platinum or iridium plugs but it seems that Autolite has discontinued them and I have not found another source to fit small engines. I would normally not use an Autolite plug but I think that is because I grew up with GM products.

I personally don't care for Autolite plugs either.I know some people swear by them, but I've never had much good success with them.I liked AC plugs & had good success with them as well, but they're difficult to find nowadays. There was one mfgr.of chainsaws (McCulloch) that used AC plugs in their equipment extensively (maybe exclusively would be a better word to use). It's good to know to stay away from Torch brand plugs till I should hear anything more positive about them. I am a big fan of NGK plugs. When I was growing up my grandpa (who had rode motorcyles in the days of 30w motor oil mixed with the fuel) always ran them and I took after him. Generally I run NGK in everything.
I will say I have seen a total of two plugs DOA in my life and they both were champions.
