Can someone tell me if this armature is probably still useable or not? Taking break from responsibility and working on first saw I got to. Besides being filthy, is the only spot separating like this and am trying to learn more. Thanks, Mike

Besides being filthy, is the only spot separating like this and am trying to learn more. Thanks, Mike That part is called the core. It's a bunch of steel plates sandwiched together. I would say it should work okay. The important part is the black plastic part called the coil or if it is electronic ignition called the module. As long as no cracks or damage to it you're good to go.

As far as I can tell in my current level of tear down the coil/module is free of cracks, but has enough dirt and grime to hide the Grand Canyon almost. Thanks again, have a happy Thanksgiving. Mike

I agree that the separated laminations should not affect the ignition.

There was so much dirt, oil, and grime on this saw you couldn't even see ends of the coore till I took the solvent to it.
