There's a GTG at the Ft Scott Pioneer Harvest Fiesta this coming weekend on Saturday the 20th. Anyone that would like to go is welcome. We mainly sit around and shoot the bull and visit and trade saws. We even run a few.😊 I'm going to bring 3 two-man saws, 5-30N, XL-15, 8800, the Angry Mosquito, and a David Bradley with an AH-81 (131cc). Only about 400 lbs of saws. 😆 Anyone that may be going, just let me know and I'll put you on the attendee list.

Nice! What is that in the middle, looks like a red Super XL with a planetary gear drive or something?

I hope you'll be keeping in mind how many here will be living vicariously through the videos we hope you'll be bringing back.

One day, I would love it if you'd do a video of some minor disassembly and tour of the inner workings of that Disston. Henry Disston handsaws are one of the bigger prizes among people to collect & use handsaws. I've studied the man & the origins of his company quite a bit. He was responsible for some significant advances in industrial manufacturing and metallurgy.
I'm sure, by that time, it was a very different company that built the machine you have, but would be interesting to see what might have carried over & how it was built.

Actually Disston only provided bars and Mercury Kiekhaefer made the rest. The engines were also used for target drones after WWII. You can see signs of that involvement by all of the safety-wired fasteners on this saw.

The XL-15 impressed several people. A 54.5cc saw with a 24" bar that you could dig the spikes into a log and crowd so hard that you felt like you were gonna break the rear handle off of it and it never slowed down.
