It lives! I finally got around to putting fuel in the saw & priming the carb.It runs good at higher speeds, but has issues idling.I might have to take the carb off & possibly just clean it.I think if I let the saw sit for a few days with gas in the carb it might correct itself by "swelling"the gaskets,I've had this happen before with other saws.I have no idea if the saw was put away with a dry carb or not,or how long it's been out of action. The automatic oiler is working too, there was a good sized puddle of oil mixture on the floor.(I've found that using straight bar oil is too heavy, especially in colder weather,so I "cut"the oil with kerosene at a ratio of one pint to a gal.of bar oil) I'm having a problem with the drive case cover binding against the clutch. The original drive case cover was cracked,so I bought two drive case covers for an XL-98 which do fit.I'm wondering if the bar isn't thick enough & has to have a spacer behind it?What thickness should the bar be?The bar that's currently on the saw now is a D096,would this be a proper fit?

The bar sounds proper for the saw...it may be dimensional differences in the XL-98 covers vs. the original Xl-925 cover that's giving you fits. The blade arm is much thicker on a XL-98 than the guide bar is on a chainsaw. I've never tried swapping one out, but I suspect this is the problem.

I think you're right Leon, even though Chainsawr says that they'll swap out.Unfortunately I bought mine on Ebay back in Sept.I tried kooking for the original yesterday, but I couldn't find it.It'll turn up somewhere & sometime.I know I didn't throw it out. Ed

I did manage to find the old drive case cover a couple of days ago.I needed it to put on the saw temporarily for when I bought a new chain.I bought the chain on Tues. (11/20/18).I also managed to get a brand new drive case cover for $32,which I thought was a good price considering that IF I can find a used one they're going for around $40 or more on Ebay. Ed

Speaking of Super XL-925's, does anyone know the maximum no-load rpm setting for a 82cc version (in case it differs from the 77cc)? I'm not seeing it listed anywhere. Thanks. Steve

It's pulled from a TSB...Greg provided that snip a while back so he might remember what year it was posted.

Curious about the XL-800. Thanks.
