Hello from Gatineau, Quebec Canada!
I recently found my dad's old saw, a Canadian made XL-76. After a bit of cleaning and fresh fuel, it runs like a scalded cat, but only for about 10 seconds. The fuel line is broken between the tank and air filter housing.
From my initial research and measurements, the fuel hose is 3/16" ID x 5/16" OD. Can someone please confirm?
Also, what size of grommet would fit at the fuel tank and air filter end?
I see that kits are available, but I'd like to try and source the bits I need locally and hopefully with off-the-shelf bits.
Anyone have luck with a sealant, e.g. Right Stuff or Reinzosil, at the tank or fuel filter housing around where the hose passes through?
Thanks in advance! Chris K

Welcome to the House of Homelite Chris. Most of the stuff you might seal that hole with do not stand up well to gasoline. Maybe someone else has had better luck than I have. I don't know for sure the sizes of the hose but if that is what you measured it should be right. The grommets sometimes melt from gas too, they have to be the right stuff as well. Gas is pretty unforgiving. Do you have an IPL for your saw? They are listed on Leon's site and you can down load it there if you want to. www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/parts-diagrams.htmlLet us know how you come out!

Welcome Chris..
Fuel hose size in Tygon is 1/8" ID x 1/4" OD Grommet size is about .190" ID x .310" OD ...available from Leon's Store (68046)
Permatex Motoseal is a gasoline resistant gasket maker..but I haven't tried it on the fuel tank opening.
