I am looking at a saw and on the starter side it says XL-130, but on the clutch cover it says XL-76. The UT# is 50050, the serial number is 3306T224. I'd really like to know if its a XL-130 or not, no chain brake

I really don’t know. The UT number lists are incomplete on the Canadian saws. Maybe 5terrysaws has a answer.

Thanks, I wondered if I could find out if it was a XL-130 by eliminating XL-76 UT numbers

Try comparing the IPL’s to see any differences between the two, and what yours has.

The XL-76 used the UT numbers 50082, 50105, 50108, 50139, and 50150, I think the XL-130 used the UT number 50050 and came out in 1973 or 1974 and was the early Terry version of the XL-123, which Homelite introduced in 1971. After 1975 Terry was building their own XL-123 model and the XL-130 was upgraded to the Super XL-130 with electronic ignition. I suppose the VI-130 was made at the same time or in the later 70's as well

I reviewed the pictures of the saw in question; UT:50050 SN:3306T224
I'm 99.8 % certain it is a XL-130 built on Friday , November 2 , of 1973
Production of the XL-130 may have began in 1971. XL-130 IPL 121898 is dated : 5/71 Rev. 1 : 2/72 Rev. 2 : 4/73 Rev. 3 : 7/74
Super XL-130 IPL 122440 is dated : 9/74

When the XL-130 was upgraded to electronic ignition it was rebadged as the Super XL-130 in 1974. I think the XL-123 also was also upgraded to electronic ignition around this time. I bought the saw as I was fairly sure it was a XL-130. I also bought a Super XL-130 as well.

Any numbers off the Super XL-130 ? The two that I have are both '79 models...I haven't come across any earlier ones yet.
