Is the 7 and 8 tooth sprocket interchangeable on the XL-800 and XL-850. They take the same 7 and 8 tooth sprockets, just wondering if the chain or anything else is different in changing from 7 to 8 tooth. Thanks

Should be fine unless the bar you have is really close to the sprocket with the 7 pin. My 8 pin sprockets work fine with 70 DL on a 20" bar

I have one new A-63346 8 tooth sprocket that fits the XL-400 and Super XL Automatics, two new A-64370 8 tooth sprockets that fit the XL-800 and two new A-63813 8 tooth sprockets that fit the late XL-800, XL-800am, and XL-850. I'd like to find a A-65885(T) 8 tooth sprocket or 8 tooth rim sprocket for the XL-902am, XL-903. Also I haven't found any compatible Homelite part number for a 8 tooth hub sprocket or rim sprocket for the SXL-925

One of my 925s has a rim type clutch drum and I use a Stihl 8 slot sprocket. Fits okay.

Can you tell me the part number of the 8 tooth Stihl rim sprocket? I guess it fits over the stock SXL-925 rim hub? Thanks

Yes fits great. I'll have to see if I can get the part number for you. I may have to take the clutch off.

All of the Homelite rim sprockets use the Oregon rims. 3/8" pitch rims are,
PN 68210 for the 7 pin
PN 22273 for the 8 pin.

Modern rims are listed on the Oregon site, there are only about 3 sizes of drum splines that take rims for small, medium and huge chainsaws. 68210 and 22273 are current numbers.

Thank you Fossil. Any idea when the rim sprocket first appeared? In the 60’s at least. They are in a 1968 Oregon Catalog. One of these days I’ll get it scanned and posted. I'll bet if you contacted Oregon they might tell you. Not sure if it was them or somebody else that launched them. On the rims, the only company that I know of that doesn't use the Oregon rims is Stihl. I suspect Oregon made almost all of the OEM sprockets in North America. They have a very large presence elsewhere in the world as well.
