What would be a good site with pictures that i could see the different types of chain cutters? I would like to understand the use of full chisel vs other types or when to use. Thanks Dan

I’ve been hearing good things about Stihl chain but I’ve had a time deciding which. It was recommended to me for my little Bandit but there was two types of stihl chain for it, one green I guess and one yellow. I really couldn’t tell a difference and I’ve also heard the stihl chain uses odd file sizes

Stihl green label chain is "LOW" kickback chain, yellow label chain is considered more of a professional series chain with more kickback potential (NON safety). Stihl just basically uses file sizes in mm's rather than fractional inches, otherwise the same.

Is a full chisel not normal to be used any more? Just kinda an old way? Dan

Scratcher is the original, chipper put Oregon on the map so to speak, chisel is newest and has several types depending on how it is ground and the exact cutter profile. Chisel is an improvement on the general chipper design.

I have had good luck with Baileys online chain, full chissel chain. Affordable and they hold up good. Great customer service.

I've been using Oregon 72LPX and 72LGX chains on most of my saws and find it cuts pretty well. I can get these in 16-24 inch lengths for 15-22 dollars delivered

I like the diagrams of the cutter teeth on the madsen site, that helps me understand better. Thanks for the great information from all. Some cutters can be referred by more than one name i take it. Dan

Dan The 72LPX chain has a ramped raker and will have less vibration, 72LGX cuts about as well, but I think the 72LPX stays sharper longer

Yes its the woodland pro, as far ad i know its there own brand. I have been cutting lots of hardwood the last 2 weeks, the chain i am running hasn't needed sharping yet. I have cut about 3 cords of clean hardwood. I am sure i will hear about going for so long without sharping.

I'm pretty sure from what others have said, the Bailey's chain is Carlton. I don't buy from Bailey's as the shipping to Canada has always been stupid high.
I do buy Laser chain which is Carlton as I can get it locally.
