I am going to replace sprocket for chain drive on little red xl. There is a bearing in the drum. The service or owners manual does not show if this should be greased or oiled when installing drum, and does this need maintenance with oil or grease periodically during use? Thanks Dan

I use high temp grease. (Wheel bearing grease).

They normally don’t need lubed during use. They usually get some bar oil from use. Problems happen when the chain is stalled to long at WOT, getting drum very hot, which can make the bearing seize.

I think it should be greased any time it is installed or removed for any other service. Might not need it but it is pretty cheap insurance.
