I was with my son earlier today when he went to a NAPA store to buy brakes for his car.I went in & was sociable as I always try to be.I was talking with the clerk about my Homelite collection & he said that for the price I have to pay for parts for the older Homelites I could go buy a new one for probably les than what I spend on those parts.I replied to him "yeah, use it about seven times & then throw it into the nearest dumpster because that's about all the use you'll get out of them".We then somehow got on the subject of him putting a new carb into a saw.I asked him why he didn't rebuild the carbs? He told me that it cost just as much for a new carb as it did for a rebuild kit - $40 plus another $40 to install the carb.I looked at hm & asked him"Where the hell are you buying your rebuild kits for $40?" I told him that the most expensive kit for a Walbro on Ebay is about $8.He said he doesn't buy anything on Ebay because he doesn't trust Ebay becausse he bought a phone there once & it was stolen.OK,so the guy had some bad luck on Ebay, regardless, even if he bought the rebuild kits directly from Walbro, which most places like NAPA that do small engine repair do,he still wouldn't be paying $40/kit.It dawned on me later that the reason why he doesn't rebuild the carbs is most likely he doesn't know how.A lot of the younger generation is quite lazy too,why go through all that work of rebuilding when you can just take the old carb off & put a new one on & just pass the costs along to the customer, right? This post waas made with due respect to all members involved.

You'd be amazed how many people contact me looking for a new carburetor...fortunately the kind of person that has spent the time to find my website is far more inclined to be receptive to rebuilding a carb than the average Joe. I even go so far as to try and find the right kit, as I really don't stock them to sell through my store unless it's an OEM kit I've gotten in a parts lot. Anyhow, there are a lot of people that want no part of rebuilding a carb.

I've found several kits on Amazon as well. I think mostly aftermarket but most of them work fine

Ive got Buz and a 7/19, got rebuild kits from Amazon included a new neelde and seat all the diaphrams and gaskets, havent put the one on the 7/19 together yet but the Buz is running excellent, both the carbs are old tillotson and the kits have tillotson packaging.
