Sorry, but it is just a fact of life doing this stuff. Do it long enough and you will get bit. When I ran shops and contracting crews if I had a guy come in looking for a job, claiming he had 15-20 years experience, I'd tell him to hold his hands out. If he wasn't missing a finger, I'd look him in the eye and say "no you don't".
Woodworking equipment at least has the option to be a lot safer, always use pushblocks, featherboards and such wherever you can. You've already cut yourself, so you are likely to be paying more attention than most. They also have those new tablesaws that will stop instantly if the blade senses meat.

Yup,they have one of those saws at the wood shop at our local high school. My son took the class there & did well.He came home one day & told about his classmate cutting himself pretty good.It seems that the blade drops out of sight & it costs about $35 to reset it. Pretty sure some of those numbers mean what chain fits the bar. “J” =3/8, the “1” = .050 gauge. See pic.

It has J1 on the DL's and an M on the connecting links. So the J is 3/8, the 1 is .050. the M is semi chisel and that's what it is, I didn't see a 2, but it is duel raker chain, and it just happens to be 59 drive links. Now all I have to do is figure out what saw and bar it goes on. Did Saber make Homelite branded chain? Joe.

I need to go back and look and study those bar mounts and numbers again. The chain I do ok with as far my own needs don’t know if I could help anyone else with it though but the bar numbers and mounts still mess me up some.

It's just logic to me. A friend gave me a hand full of old bullets. One was a Savage 22 HiPower and another a Savage 303. So, now I have a first year of production, 1912 Savage 22 HP with an original Malcolm scope and a 1908 26" octagon barrel 303. One just seems to follow the other. Please don't give me an original spark plug from a Hurst Hemi Cuda, my wife would not like it if I sold the house, Joe.

Is this for the Homelites and will it work on my 1958 EZ?

Not likely J1 J=3/8 1=.050 should be 7/16 originally but could be swapped to .404 with a new clutch
