Which are more dependable, Wico or Phelon. Wico is priced higher. Thanks, Tim

I think Wico is more common, so parts are in shorter supply, hence the price difference. On these saws I have not personally noticed a difference in reliability. Others may have though...

I would agree with Leon here, they both seem to work pretty well, at least for the first 50-60 years. After that they both seem to need some service.

Are there still new replacements manufactured for these applications or is used and old stock the only replacement?

Long after they were discontinued by Volvo, I found points for my son's car at a NAPA. They were cataloged for a Toro lawnmower. I am sure that somewhere, points for something are available new to fit just about anything. Same for the capacitors. You just gotta find them. The points have to fit mechanically, the capacitor not so much. As long as it has a capacitance in the neighborhood. I have seen .15 - .19 microfarads somewhere as original spec on some of them. It depends on the electrical characteristics of the coil. I'll bet there is more here: houseofhomelite.proboards.com/board/36/ignition-system

I needed a seal and grommet for the steering wheel, NLA, but they still sell the part with the same part number for Club Car golf carts. Many many of the same parts were made or sold for many different brands and applications. Tecumseh was one of the best for supplying most of the really old electronic parts
