Hey guys, got a quick question. Rebuilt the sxl a while back, new piston and rings, good used cylinder. Have used it lightly since rebuild and took of the muff. to check everything out and noticed very very very light scratches (like can hardly see them) in the top of the piston above the top ring. So this is a result of not bevelling the exhaust port? I guess I never thot to do so at the time of the rebuild, but theres not other reason or apparent scratching anywhere on the piston. Did I goof bad?

Nope, no scratches anywhere on the piston except the very top. I am starting to, like you said, suspect maybe so fine grit particles may have somewhere gotten in there, the more I run it it seems as though the scratches are fading away, so I dont think its anything serious. Just curious as to why they developed in the first place. My first thot about the ports was that maybe since the cylinder was used there were some 'burs' on lower edge of the exhaust port, but I am starting to doubt thats the case. I'll probably just keep and eye on it, but thanks for the second opinion zip.
