I saw on Ebay a saw for sale. The owner claims it's an EZ250 with an EZ auto recoil cover on it.I'd like to know what the difference is between the two? According to Mike Acres' site the EZ 250 was made from 1970-1971.If that's the case the saw should be blue - the saw is red.The saw does say it's an EZ 250 right on the sticker that was put on by factory.

EZ250’s are red. They have the first automatic chain tension system. You can tell by looking at clutch cover.

The saw on eBay is missing the bar and clutch cover which are unique to the EZ250 and are very hard to come by.

The EZ-250 used a unique extended drivecase to accommodate the adjuster assembly, along with a special guide bar made to work with the adjuster hardware. As Greg indicated, these are not growing on trees and are somewhat hard to come by. The EZ-250 also had a tachometer wire that was mounted to the bottom of the air cleaner cover; when it vibrated just right, you had the idle set properly. Finally (that I can remember) the EZ-250 used a reed muffler setup. Other than that, they are basically the same saw. EZ-250:
